Kevin Durant came to Golden State to take shots exactly like this one. Game Three of the 2018 NBA Finals gave him the stage and a Finals career high to go with it. Cleveland played the game it needed at Quicken Loans Arena, leading at the break and keeping the margin inside five points from the third quarter on while the Warriors' shooters searched for their range. Durant covered all of it, scoring 13 in the opening quarter and 24 by halftime, cleaning the defensive glass and holding Golden State steady until the closing minute. Up three with the clock under a minute, he cleared out above the break, called Andre Iguodala over for a screen and let the ball go before it arrived, a 33-footer over J.R. Smith that dropped with 49.8 seconds left for a 106-102 lead and nearly mirrored the shot he made from the same patch of floor in the same round a year earlier. He closed the 110-102 victory on June 6, 2018 with 43 points on 15-of-23 shooting, six 3-pointers in nine tries, seven for seven at the line, 13 rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one block. Golden State finished the sweep two nights later, and the 2014 MVP and four-time scoring champion took home a second consecutive Finals MVP award.
