Nic Claxton had plenty of reasons to be extra fired up. In by far the best season of Claxton’s four-year career, the Brooklyn Nets center finished the 2022-23 season tied for second in the NBA in blocks per game while shooting a league-best 70.5 percent from the field. He flexed both of those muscles against the LA Clippers as Claxton first rejected Norman Powell’s driving layup attempt and then grabbed the rebound before driving coast-to-coast and finishing with an electrifying two-handed slam. Hanging on the rim an extra second for full effect, Claxton soaked in every bit of his 15-point, 16-rebound performance while also mixing in two steals and three blocks on February 6, 2023.
