Tyasha Harris

Level Up

RARESeries 2023-24LEMint 299Connecticut Sun

Having aced each of their late-game tests by collecting single-digit, too-close-for-comfort victories all throughout the previous week, the Connecticut Sun were forced to prove their mettle once more with the pesky Chicago Sky hot on their heels. For Tyasha Harris, the opportunity offered the chance to make a statement: creating separation on her shot attempt may have been difficult. Creating separation on the scoreboards, though, wouldn’t be. Forced into improv with Chicago’s defense erasing any outlet opportunity, the smooth-shooting floor general tries a behind-the-back in hopes of shaking free of Dana Evans. Still enveloped along the free throw area with both her options and the play clock running slim, Harris remains poised, pivoting into a clutch, fallaway jumper, pushing Connecticut’s late lead to six. The Sun, ironically, played with a figurative fire, needing another down-to-the-wire finish on May 25, 2024, though their veteran savvy helped them prevail. Harris — buoyed by a 10-point third quarter to stage the comeback — finished with 15 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and two 3-pointers as Connecticut remained the WNBA’s lone undefeated group.
