2024 WNBA Playoffs

Aside from their rare abilities to deliver pinpoint passes across the floor’s every dimension, there are a few luxuries that both Courtney Vandersloot and the WNBA’s previous all-time postseason assists record holder shared throughout their one-of-a-kind journeys. Appropriately, all it took was the type of heads-up play that Vandersloot has made hundreds of times throughout her career — a record-setting 365 times, to be exact, on September 22, 2024 — to illustrate one such example. Adding the finishing touches to Game One’s win, fittingly with a perfectly-placed touch pass, Vandersloot opens the sequence by reading the Atlanta Dream’s middle-of-the-floor cut flawlessly, undercutting through for a steal. Setting her eyes down the floor, Vandersloot sprays out a skip pass to her All-WNBA teammate for an assist, a play that put the New York Liberty ahead by 16, and her name atop the leaderboards. With the game’s previous No. 1 sitting courtside, Vandersloot put on a show, helping New York reach its 125th consecutive game with at least 15 assists. A leader among the second unit for the first time since 2017, Vandersloot used 16 minutes to produce a versatile four-point, three-rebound, three-assist, two-steal performance.
