No draft slot. No guaranteed path. Just a two-way contract from the only team that called, and a belief that Auburn's all-time winningest player had earned his shot. On October 22, 2025, Dylan Cardwell stepped onto an NBA floor for the first time against the Phoenix Suns and wasted none of it. He jumps a bad pass for a steal, then tracks down Devin Booker on the perimeter and pins his layup to the glass. Dennis Schröder finds him rolling to the rim and Cardwell hammers a two-handed backscratch dunk for his first career NBA points, the finishing ability that five years at Auburn always promised. Cardwell closed his debut with three points, one rebound, one steal and two blocks.
