To conquer the NBA’s reigning-champion Boston Celtics without one’s All-Star point guard, the list of unsung heroes — needless to say — is likely to run incredibly deep. As confirmed through Larry Nance Jr.’s play on November 12, 2024, those aforementioned saviors likely need to be able to shoot the lights out from deep, as well. Electric in his role throughout the Atlanta Hawks’ NBA Cup introduction, Nance Jr. settles into a floor-spacing role along the floor’s far-left corner, likely unaware of the soon-to-come excellence arriving through his right wrist. Positioned perfectly to retrieve his teammate’s hustle-heavy rebound and outlet pass towards the perimeter, the 10-year veteran fearlessly unloads a game-saving 3-pointer beyond Jayson Tatum’s contest and ultimately, through the net. Nance’s triple eventually set up a game-winning tip-in by a teammate moments later, helping Atlanta secure one of the early season’s great upsets. Draining half of Atlanta’s trifectas, Nance’s contributions included 19 points (on 7-of-10), alongside a two-rebound, two-assist, one-steal, one-block, five-triple complement.
