Fielding one of the youngest rosters in league history, with eight rookies in the mix, the Washington Mystics refused to fold against the defending WNBA champion New York Liberty. Lauren Betts, the No. 4 overall pick and part of a record six-player UCLA draft class, contributed seven points, two rebounds, an assist, and a block across 18 minutes as Washington pushed New York all the way into overtime. The Liberty ultimately survived 98-93, but Betts and the Mystics gave notice.
