Undrafted in 1988, John Starks built a career out of refusing to disappear. New York trailed Phoenix by two in the closing seconds on February 18, 1997 when Allan Houston's 3-pointer came off the rim. Starks tracked the carom, backpedaled until his toes cleared the arc, head-faked the closeout into the air and released as the horn sounded. It fell through for a 95-94 win, the only game-winning buzzer-beater of his 13 seasons. That spring he was named Sixth Man of the Year. He remains the Knicks' all-time leader in 3-pointers with 982 and was the first player in league history to make 200 in a season.
