Andre Miller would eventually be called the Professor for a game built on patience, which makes the rookie tape a pleasant surprise. On January 4, 2000, the eighth pick of the 1999 draft collected the ball and put his head down, beating Sacramento up the floor and laying it in without breaking stride. Miller scored 18 points in 21 minutes at Gund Arena, one of the flashes that carried a first year to All-Rookie First Team honors. Two seasons later he led the entire NBA in assists at 10.9 a game, and by the end he had played 1,304 games and handed out 8,524 of them, the résumé of one of the most durable point guards the league has had. He finished with 18 points, three rebounds and four assists.
