History remembers Ray Allen as a shooter, which makes the tape from his rookie November even better. On November 12, 1996 at the Bradley Center, the fifth pick of that summer's draft caught the inbounds pass out beyond the arc, put his head down into the Phoenix defense, shook his man with one move and rose up to finish with one hand over the rim. Milwaukee needed an extra period to put the Suns away 99-89, and Allen was on the floor for 42 minutes of it, shooting 9-of-19. He would eventually leave the game as the NBA's all-time 3-point leader, a 10-time All-Star and a two-time champion, but the first flashes looked like this. Allen finished with 23 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two steals.
