Two guards out of the 1996 draft, both taken in the top four, both wearing number 3, shared a floor in Minneapolis on March 11, 1997. Stephon Marbury drove Allen Iverson toward the baseline, got half a step along the endline and reversed the ball in off the far side of the glass, the kind of finish that made Coney Island's finest a nightly problem for grown men. He put up 24 points and nine assists in a 104-100 Timberwolves win at Target Center, part of a rookie year that carried Minnesota to the first playoff berth in franchise history and earned him All-Rookie First Team honors. Two All-Star selections and two All-NBA nods would follow. Marbury totaled 24 points, three rebounds, nine assists, three steals and one block.
