Becoming just WNBA history’s fourth-ever undrafted player to record 1,000 made field goals left Erica Wheeler guaranteed of at least one unforgettable highlight on May 25, 2025. Though, in what became bad news for Jewell Loyd and the Las Vegas Aces’ defense, the “wheels” were only just beginning to spin on the 10-year veteran’s almost-unguardable evening. Screeching her brakes, ironically, on a top-of-the-key isolation against Loyd, Wheeler bids both “hello” and “goodbye” to Seattle’s former all-time great simultaneously, winning the head-to-head with a quick-stop between-the-leg snatchback, alongside an off-glass middy. As if discovering a fountain of youth along the Pacific Northwest, the 34-year-old’s nine-game open to 2025 has prompted career-best marks both overall (49.3 percent) and from downtown (42.1 percent). During the Seattle Storm’s win over the Aces, Wheeler bordered on unstoppable, erupting for 21 points (on 8-of-11), three rebounds, seven assists, two steals, one block, and three 3-pointers.
