As a could-be star point guard on the lottery-bound Washington Wizards, Carlton “Bub” Carrington is likely already aware of how many fires will need putting out on a still-developing franchise. Presented with one end-of-shot-clock example during February 5, 2025’s clash against the Brooklyn Nets, Carrington finds a “hot potato”-like pass arriving his way, with time constraints making a 35-foot heave his only reasonable plan. Perhaps treating it as one of his trademark midrange pull-ups, Carrington elevates with confidence, draining a buzzer-beating trifecta to extend Washington’s late-game lead. Carrington’s deep-range bucket told the story of what kind of night it was, as Washington cruised to a rare blowout win over their Eastern Conference adversaries, largely through a 20 3-pointer team effort. Individually, Carrington tallied an efficient 16-point, four-rebound, 10-assist, one-steal, four-triple effort, as he joined his fellow up-and-coming backcourt teammate to become just NBA history’s fourth set of 20-or-younger teammates to record a same-game double-double and triple-double.
