Proven enough already in his ability to maneuver into any midrange bucket that he pleased, Bub Carrington’s next progression step — according to most scouting reports — boiled down to one thing: a similar ambition around the rim. Addressing said questions, and any Golden State Warriors defenders at once, the Washington Wizards’ No. 14 pick uses a quick inbound and series of screens, creating a mostly-unguarded runway to the rim with only Kevon Looney in his way. In need of something creative against his bruising 6-foot-8 foe, Carrington absorbs all contact, contorting his body effectively enough to deliver an acrobatic and-one bucket. Having earned the respect of the Warriors’ All-Star talents in the postgame press conference that followed, Carrington, even in defeat, was among the game’s most versatile on November 4, 2024. Stuffing the stat sheets impactfully enough to flirt with a triple-double, Carrington’s final tally concluded with 16 points (on 7-of-12 shooting), eight rebounds, seven assists, and one 3-pointer.
