Aaron Wiggins

Breakout

RARESeries 2024-25LEMint 399Oklahoma City Thunder

On the list of players to produce a 40-point game in Oklahoma City Thunder colors, one can find future Hall of Famers, former Most Valuable Player winners, and flat-out franchise legends. During what became his career’s greatest hit to date, Aaron Wiggins used February 1, 2025’s stage to confirm that to be the type of company he aspires to someday keep. Maestro-like in his ability to move off-ball throughout the evening, Wiggins — guaranteed both a new career-high and added defensive attention — produces another example, remaining reactive after the Sacramento Kings thwart his dribble handoff plans. Smoothly backpedaling towards the somewhat-uncovered corner, Wiggins turns a catch-and-shoot opportunity into a spot-on triple, bringing Paycom Center to its feet. There were once questions, regarding how Oklahoma City would survive absences from one of its soon-to-be All-Stars, an All-Rookie Team center, and key depth pieces. Answering every call, Wiggins erupted for a career-best 41 points (on 16-of-30 shooting), alongside 14 rebounds, three assists, and six 3-pointers, as the Thunder cruised to a blowout win.
