Throwdowns

RARESeries 2023-24LEMint 699Utah Jazz

For even respected rim protectors, taking to the skies to compete with John Collins on a potential alley-oop attempt remains a poor business decision. In a jam that followed an eerie pattern to Collins’ shockwave-inducing Playoff slam that prompted the creation of a t-shirt, the highflying big got to work on a new example, operating in perfect cohesion with a teammate on a pick-and-roll before testing the air on a high-arcing lob. Unsatisfied with the possibility of a mere dunk, Collins takes a defender with him for a ride, latching onto him like a parachute before stretching out for a poster-esque finish and a quick flex thereafter. In the middle of a productive first-year with the Utah Jazz, Collins was remarkable in the win over the Memphis Grizzlies, needing just six shots to turn in an 18-point, four-block performance with three triples and countless highlights on November 10, 2023.
