Throwdowns

As evidenced by the game-winning bucket he buried against them just weeks later, time continues to be a friend of Bam Adebayo’s whenever the San Antonio Spurs are scheduled. On January 19, 2025, that partnership encouraged something just as breathtaking for the Miami Heat’s All-Star center: an in-air opportunity to determine which hand to finish a rainbow alley-oop with. Entrusted the task of keeping Miami’s offense on schedule from his “point center” role, Adebayo joins his teammate during an empty-corner handoff-and-roll, comprising San Antonio’s opportunities to help defensively. Springing into a vertical leap high enough to contemplate his throwdown method of choice, Adebayo picks first his left hand, then his right before spiking a contact jam through. In a game Heat observers could someday avidly remember as the first in which Adebayo successfully shared the floor in a two-big lineup alongside 2024’s No. 15 pick, Miami proved too big to handle for San Antonio during a blowout win. Versatile throughout, Adebayo offered a six-point, 11-rebound, five-assist, one-steal, one-block contribution.
