Rookie Debut

Long before his regular-season debut in the Charlotte Hornets’ colors had arrived, Tidjane Salaün — both verbally, and through an impressive highlight tape — offered insights on what his playstyle would ultimately include: 100 percent energy, and therefore, an always-amped home crowd. A single minute into his NBA introduction, the No. 6 pick got to work on a first-time example, clogging up the Miami Heat’s middle-of-the-floor cut with enough intensity to prompt both a steal and a breakaway opportunity. Determined to parlay his defensive play with a just-as-fruitful offensive result, Salaün briefly showcases his open-floor comfort, setting up a drive-and-kick that, after a miss and subsequent retry, ends in a 3-point make. The versatile Frenchman helped Charlotte present their Southeast Division foes with a formidable challenge, even in defeat on October 26, 2024. With more versatile box score contributions to arrive soon after, Salaün’s debut encouraged a one-rebound, one-steal, eight-minute beginning.
