In a lesson the Denver Nuggets have learned on numerous occasions throughout 2024-25 half the battle doesn’t begin until warm-ups are thrown off, and the Most Valuable Player takes a seat along the bench for a brief rest. Requiring all of 16 seconds to confirm that Mile High’s second unit was ready for November 2, 2024’s challenge, Hunter Tyson, through trademark energy, turns a teammate’s deflection into a collection, capturing a steal with his eyes immediately set in transition. With a fastbreak number’s advantage dependent on the quickness of his move, Tyson calls his own number, outhanging Johnny Juzang’s defensive reach for a coast-to-coast double-clutch finish. It was that kind of night for Tyson and the Nuggets’ backups, as they tallied 48 bench points — a season-best, even months later — during a 26-point rout of the Utah Jazz. For his efforts, the 2023 second-rounder captured the spotlight through a seven-point, four-rebound, four-assist showing in 25 minutes.
